Crosville bus, Edge Lane Depot

Sunday the 6th AUGUST 2010 was the anniversary of the day that I left home to work 'darn sarf' this was in 1972, I still feel homesick, I still get goosebumps driving in on the M62.

To my Liverpool that I love you with all my heart.

The lanny with the man whose pic is on Geds inacity with the club foot he sold the echo backed the buses in who as a young boy I always took the pee.

As older now I apologise but I can still smell the fresh doughnuts that wafted down the tunnel.

Running down the corridor to the ferry then couldn't stop because it was so steep
Standing by the ferry waiting for the ramp to crash down, sod them getting off I wanted to get on as soon as possible.

Jumping on the back of an Ellie May for a free ride down to the dock road.

Going to George Graves the barber on Admiral Street, giving him all the instructions to cut my hair He was in the United Services Club on Admiral St. the night before with my dad who told him short back and sides for a shilling.

The Butchers on Admiral Street every Saturday morning - pork ribs and cabbage cooked in the big pot, me mam used to boil all the undies in to clean during the week.

The Chinese Laundry on North Hill street my dad used to get his collars done.

A ships fitter in Cammel Lairds who went to work every day in shirt and tie and blue overalls

Steble Street Baths, with 7d from my granny so I could go swimming.

Kick the can game down Hodges Mount a game where we used to hide like hide and seek
blowing out the gas lamp at the top of the street about five mins after he had lit it a bit older climbing up to the lamp to light a fag.

My first kiss

Crosville buses from Skelhorne Street with the door on the front and the engine noise that I could tell it was their bus with my eyes closed.

The feeling coming into Lime Street every Christmas Eve for my 2 day break with a whole gammon for the family I held it so close so I didn't lose it. I am surprised it wasn't cooked by the time I got home.

Standing on the Kop eyes wide gob open just 6 foot away from any one of the gods.

My first communion, singing I Mt Carmel choir with Gerry Marsden visiting (he used to sing there)
delivering milk to Billy Fury's mam.

Stealing sweets from Woolies in Park Road.

A Catholic watching the Scotchies Orange Lodge marching and playing the sash on North Hill Street.

Getting my first ever suit made in Jacksons on London Road.

My mate lived in 20 Forthlin Road opposite my house, after we were moved by the council, this was Paul McCartneys house.

We used to go in the back bedroom, watching the horses in Police Training College

Into the big house (grapes ) to meet up for a stag night, outside Georges Hall,

Liverpool Football Club Shank's brought home the F. A. Cup.

Jericho Lane - Saturday morning school football match.

The Iron Bridge with steam trains going underneath.

Liverpool - How can I tell you how much I love you.
Thank-you so much Essexscouse. A superb word-picture cameo Everton Football Club that should be kept for posterity! We should all be copying and pasting stuff like this for future generations.

Dr Dodiddily and the Dee-Dot's : Toby and Tilly

TOBY and TILLY go to the Mountains
Image
Share Share

It had been a very long Winter.
Tilly and Toby decided that they would go away.

There was a lot of frost .  Toby wanted to see the snow.

The roads were too icy to drive.
Tilly suggested that they take her balloon.
M
Great Balloon Festivalaybe take Candy and Sweetie Pie with them .

But Toby had got a surprise for Tilly.     Can you see what it is?

It is a poster advertising a grand balloon festival.
Toby had arranged a special balloon trip.

Which balloon do you think Toby has chosen for them?

Could it be the fish?

Could it be the duck or maybe even the heart?

They chose the Turtle. Wow can you see them, they have taken off already
They can see snow on the ground already.

Soon they will be over the snow covered mountains

"Look! Tilly Look!" Shouted Toby!

There was a huge balloon over the mountains.

"Will we be going over there too Toby?"
Tilly shouted.

They had to shout for the wind was very sharp and they had muffs on there ears to keep them warm.

"Maybe Tilly, we will follow the others?"

"Gosh Toby!" laughed Tilly. "Look at that man, he must be very cold."

Just then the balloon started to decend.
Then they were meeting up with all the other balloonist for lunch in a mountain log cabin.

The weather changes very quick in the mountains, and before  they had finished eating  a message on the loud speaker told them that all
flying was cancelled, a blizzard was due very soon.
Alas Toby and Tilly could not stay and when the blizzard blew over they had to take the chair lift down to the bottom .

It wasn't long before they were back to the village, with the Mountains behind them.

Tomorrow they would head back home to Sweetie Pie and Candy.

Tilly and Toby are taking to the ice for a skate before they go in for the night .

And now for a small trip to visit the lost lands of HIAWATHA

A small part of Hiawatha's Childhood, to accompany the fabulous video collection.

Dr Do-Diddily and the Dee - Dot's

Book of Hiawatha
Hiawatha (also known as Ayenwatha, Aiionwatha, or Haiëñ'wa'tha; Onondaga), who lived (depending on the version of the story) in the 1100s, 1400s, or 1500s, and was variously a leader of the Onondaga and Mohawk nations of Native Americans.
Hiawatha was a follower of The Great Peacemaker, a prophet and spiritual leader who was credited as the founder of the Iroquois confederacy, (referred to as Haudenosaunee by the people). If The Great Peacemaker was the man of ideas, Hiawatha was the politician who put the plan into practice.
Hiawatha was a skilled and charismatic orator, and was instrumental in persuading the Iroquois peoples, the Seneca's, Cayuga s, Onondagas, Oneidas, and Mohawk's, a group of Native North Americans who shared similar languages, to accept The Great Peacemaker's vision and band together to become the Five Nations of the Iroquois confederacy. Later, the Tuscarora nation joined the Confederacy to become the Sixth Nation

Hiawatha's Childhood

Then the little Hiawatha learned of every bird its language,
Learned their names and all their secrets, how they built their nests in Summer,
Where they hid themselves in Winter, talked with them when e'er he met them,
Called them "Hiawatha's Chickens."

Of all beasts he learned the language, learned their names and all their secrets,
How the beavers built their lodges, where the squirrels hid their acorns,
How the reindeer ran so swiftly, why the rabbit was so timid,
Talked with them whene'er he met them, Called them "Hiawatha's Brothers."

Then Iagoo, the great boaster, he the marvellous story-teller,
He the traveller and the talker, he the friend of old Nokomis,
Made a bow for Hiawatha; from a branch of ash he made it,
From an oak-bough made the arrows, tipped with flint, and winged with feathers,
And the cord he made of deer-skin.

A Little Poem that comes all the way from Old China many, many years ago.

I would loved to have lived in China when all the great Chinese Poets were around.

DR. DO-DIDDILY AND THE DEE-DOT'S

LI HO

Li Ho (pinyin: Li He)

born 791 AD in China - died 817 AD in Ch'ang-ku/China

Li Ho was a brilliant Chinese poet (living in famous T'ang dynasty) whose at the age of 26, which I am sure robbed the world of many wonderful poems.
Many books and other works have been written about this wonderful man, I have quite a few snippets in some of my many books. Most of them are on many pages on the web. But as usual, I do like to put them here for you to read, as someoe who is just starting their journey of poetry and short stories. I feel I might add a few more of his works when I am ready.

Although a poet well-known during Chinese history, not one

single piece of his work had been included in famous

"300 T'ang Poems" (T'ang Shih San-Pai Shou).

THE NORTHERN COLD

The sky glows one side black, three sides purple
The yellow river's ice closes, fish and dragons die
Bark three inches thick cracks across the grain,
Carts a hundred piculs heavy mount the river's water.
Flowers of frost on the grass are as big as coins,
Brandished swords will not pierce the foggy sky,
Crashing ice flies in the swirling seas,
Cascades hang noiseless in the mountains, rainbows of jade.

Li Ho AD 791-817 circa
